You are viewing a gorgeous pair of Meissen style pate sur pate porcelain jugs. The pieces feature very intricate white pâte sur pâte work depicting the classical tunic clad figures around the main body of the bowl. Pâte sur pâte is the technique whereby the white porcelain is overlaid on the blue surface of the bowl. Ie you can feel the delicate relief of the figures. Pâte sur pâte is a famous technique for Meissen porcelain and ceramics.
The jugs are very elaborately crafted and I only hope the photos convey the amount of work that would have gone into the making of these.
