You are viewing a stunning pair of silver plate epergenes (epergne (plural epergnes) piece of ornamental tableware: a large elaborate centrepiece for a table with containers for fruit or confectionery) although for ease of title we’ve called them ‘Cherub Dippers’! This will definitely add a bit of class to your guacomole, sour cream, salsa dips with nacho experience!
The pieces have been hand crafted from silver plate and crystal glass for the main bowl at the top. There are three dishes to each stand with the chubby cherubs resting at the helm of each dish. As you can see from the pictures the dishes come off. There is very intricate lattice work to the edge of the base with also ornate hand chase work. The silver plate to the top surface of the base is almost like a mirror giving the piece light and space. It also means you can admire the reflection of the underside of the main column and the cut glass crystal.
The piece is made in the manner of Mathhew Bolton and as such is highly collectable. We have never seen a piece of such high quality and in the perfect condition that it is. We have include a close up of the Sheffield silverplate stamp on the underside.
