An epergne is a large centrepiece used to display things – flowers, desserts, dips, types of food – on a table. The video below shows a Victorian silver plate centrepiece on an antique walnut dining table. Traditionally epergnes were first made from silver but many are now made of glass – as I hope you agree they look superb in the right setting and will definitely add a bit of oomph to any dinner party.
