You are viewing a gorgeous pair of Meissen style pate sur pate porcelain urns. The pieces feature very intricate white pâte sur pâte work depicting the classical tunic clad figures around the main body of the bowl. Pâte sur pâte is the technique whereby the white porcelain is overlaid on the blue surface of the bowl. Ie you can feel the delicate relief of the figures. Pâte sur pâte is a famous technique for Meissen porcelain and ceramics.
The urns are very elaborately crafted and I only hope the photos convey the amount of work that would have gone into the making of these. They feature intricate swan neck handles to either side and other hand painted colours and in gold leaf on the neck and base.
They are a fantastic collectors pair and are both offered in perfect condition ready for home use right away. We bought these from Bermondsey antiques market and will ship to anywhere in the world.
